About the Club
Denver Sailing Club was established in 1957 and is a very friendly Club situated on the River Great Ouse at the Denver Sluice Complex, just south of Downham Market, Norfolk.
The emphasis at the DSC is on the involvement of the entire family regardless of age or ability in the easily accessible and highly enjoyable sport of dinghy sailing.
Facilities on the Water
Denver Sailing Club has excellent facilities and access to 1½ miles of the picturesque Great Ouse. Whilst some of our members simply enjoy leisurely sailing with their families, for the more competitive races can be run on request.
In addition to leisure sailing and racing we also have a number of family fun events throughout the summer. We have a safety boat for the exclusive use of sailors undergoing training and for any water event being held by the club, which covers the entire length of our stretch of the river. The safety craft is manned by an RYA qualified crew.
Facilities off the Water
Our facilities off the water are second to none. We have our own slipway, which can accommodate dinghies up to the size of a Drascombe Lugger and a winch to assist in removing larger dinghies from the water. In addition, we also have parking space for about 40 dinghies, at probably the lowest rate anywhere in the region. The boat park includes free access to a large members shed where foils, sails and spars can be securely stored when not in use
We have our own private clubhouse, which is fully equipped with showers, heated changing facilities and a fully equipped galley. The lounge and dining area has superb panoramic views of the river. All sailing and social members have free access to the club and its facilities throughout the year.
The club prides it’s self on the friendly atmosphere with the social members enjoying the views of the river with a refreshing drink in hand, while the more energetic sailing members race around the buoys or simply enjoy a relaxing sail. All of our members have the freedom to relax and enjoy themselves whether on or off the river. On the social side the Club hosts a variety of activities throughout the year, typically: open days, fun days, BBQ’s and more formal events to round off the season. All funds raised by events go directly into club funds to help support and improve the facilities.
